Eastbank Academy

" At the heart of the learning community"

On behalf of the pupils and staff of Eastbank Academy I welcome you to our web page. The motto of the Academy, Splendeat Lux, is an extract from the Sermon on the Mount and in its fuller version means, "Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works". We expect every pupil to work towards this goal.

Eastbank Academy was opened in 1894. At the present time (November 2010) the roll is 963 pupils and the number of teaching staff is 73.4. Our associated primaries are Dalmarnock primary school, Eastbank primary school, Quarry Brae Primary school, Thorntree Primary School and Wellshot Primary School. Approximately 5% of the pupils come from other primary schools by Placing Requests.

Our Catchment area covers most of Bridgeton, Dalmarnock, Greenfield, Parkhead, Sandyhills, Shettleston, Springboig and Tollcross. The academy is a member of the Eastbank Learning Community which comprises Budhill Family Learning Centre, Dalmarnock Primary School, Eastbank Academy, Eastbank Primary school, Elba Lane Nursery School, Helenslea Nursery School, London Road Nursery School, Parkhead Community Nursery School, Quarry Brae Primary School, Thorntree Primary School and Wellshot primary School.

In the Academy a broad and varied curriculum is offered, designed to satisfy the needs and aspirations of pupils of all abilities. We also pride ourselves in offering a wide range of extra curricular activities including sports, music, educational trips, and visits. There is a strong commitment to the provision of staff development and training. We believe firmly that our main focus must be on learning and teaching and raising levels of pupils' attainment and achievement.
